Back from Sweden! [warning: a bit longer journal]

Mon Sep 7, 2009, 3:49 AM
Hello there!

So, I'm back from a trip to Stockholm, Sweden. A lot of fun things there, loads of them. I've been there a few times before, but now the trip was very special because it was mostly to show this wonderful city to my princess ( [link] ). We've seen the parliament, the royal palace, many museums in it and around it, the old town, the Vasa Museum, the Nobel Museum, etc. We've also just wandered the streets to feel the city a lil' bit.

We've seen a lot of interesting things, the most intriguing stuff are those that can't be seen in Poland. For example, all the little cinemas instead of one big cinema-plex, that was really nice. We didn't go to see any movies, but walking around was really nice just as it was. We've also noticed a lot of small retail stores with leather coats. There are literally -no- shops with leather coats (ankle-long trench coats) in Poland, at least where I live. Or if there are any, they are extremely expensive. In Stockholm we found 4 shops with them on one street (well, pretty main street, it lead straight to the parliament), but they were really, really well stocked up, I've found a few great coats and it seems I'll have to go back there in some time just to buy a coat... Besides that, all other small retail stores like a store with clothing for diplomats, goth shops, shops with latex nurse outfits (mrawr?) and many, many others. We've also visited the science fiction bookstore on one of the streets of the old town, it was really marvelous there.

The best museum we've seen was probably the Vasa Museum, the real ship wreck was just marvelous to see, walk around, almost able to touch it. I loved it, too bad I didn't take the camera with me that day, but it was raining heavily so it would be a bad day to carry the camera around.

We also saw some real punks in front of the rehab center on Radmansgatan. It looked really hilarious. The sad part was that they were completely drugged and drunk, although they did not cause any problems, but it was sad any way.

Besides that, well, I was impressed by the numbers of old cars that we managed to see during the few days we were there. Beautiful old cars, I'll upload a shot or two.

And, well, everybody wish me luck on my re-write on the 14th! And on all other re-writes I'll have to take this month. I didn't have much luck during the exams this year (sigh).

And how were your holidays?

Stay safe,
Jacek

PS – anyone feeling like donating me a 1y sub to DA? :aww:
